Let Me Out

February 22, 2013

The poison on their fingertips
Will sink beneath the violent rips
That cut into the heart of this
Ongoing, diamond-edged abyss

They burn their fires in the grass
And let the flames lick up the brass
That makes the fence where they begin
To melt the lock that keeps me in

I hear them coming after me
With darkness as their weaponry
If someone’s out there, which I doubt
Just Let me out, please, let me out
